Are you carrying out some home improvements? You might need temporary roof scaffolding. But it can be difficult to know what projects need scaffolding. This article looks at three home projects that require scaffolding and why they need it.
1. Loft Conversions
One of the first steps in your loft conversion will be scaffolding. This is because your loft may require exterior alterations before you embark on the interior design. Your builders will need to have access to your roof and need to move around safely. Scaffolding acts as a form of weatherproofing, which is also essential during a loft conversion.
Scaffolding also allows for the transportation of materials at high levels. You might have part of your roof that needs to be extended or a new Velux window that needs installing. With scaffolding, your workmen can safely move materials around and over your property without damaging the inside of your home.
2. Painting The Exterior
Painting the exterior of your home can be difficult, especially if you need to paint higher stories. Fortunately, scaffolding allows your painting team to safely access the higher levels of your property. Often, painting the exterior of your home is more complex than simply applying paint. You will likely need to treat and prepare surfaces before redesigning. Scaffolding is ideal as it allows workmen to easily access your exterior walls for treating and sanding.
Multiple levels of scaffolding also allow workmen to complete more than one story in one go, allowing for your home project to be completed more quickly. This may be more cost-effective, as, after an investment in scaffolding, your workmen will take fewer hours to complete the painting of your property.
3. Roof & Window Repair
Roof repair is a substantial renovation to complete on your home. Almost all roof repairs will require scaffolding, whether you’re repairing gutters and fascias or completely retiling the roof. Roofers must be able to safely navigate the outside of your property, and scaffolding allows them to move over and around the roof as repairs are carried out.
Window repair is more safely carried out from scaffolding than a ladder. A ladder is less secure than scaffolding and therefore substantially less safe for your workmen. It also limits the area you can work on to the area right near the ladder, while scaffolding allows workmen to move around in a stable area when carrying out repairs. Scaffolding helps tasks be completed more efficiently and quickly.
