How To Make A New Deck The Most Gorgeous Part Of Your Garden

This is a collaborative post

Have you had a new deck laid in your garden? Then you’ve got the wonderful beginnings of an outdoor haven. Once the wood varnishing has been painted on and fully dried out, you can use this space to your heart’s content once the weather gets a bit drier and warmer.

But you’re going to want to get the furniture and decor just right. After all, garden decks can take up quite a lot of room, and you don’t want a load of negative space outshining your shrubs and flowers.

So why not go all out and turn your garden deck into the most gorgeous part of your outdoor space? Good news: this post is here to give you some pointers!

Buy Furniture in Wood Tones That Fit Your Flowers

Have you got a load of flowers already well into their blooms? Maybe you use the same kinds of flowers every year to create a summer garden you really enjoy? Then you need to buy some outdoor furniture that complement the tones you’ve already set to grow within the space.

This is quite simple to do when you invest in wooden outdoor furniture, which often has more external longevity as well. Match lighter wood with pastels, and darker woods with more bold and bright shades. Then put whatever cushions you like on top!

Give it a Border

Popping a border around your deck will give your garden a lovely flowing look. From house to deck to garden, you’ve set up perimeter outlines that keep each area contained from each other.

This provides a lot more definition for the space as a whole; really, everything looks better when you put a border on it!

You can do this very easily for a deck using balustrades, which also act as good safety railings if you like spending time out there in the evenings with low light levels.

Once they’re in place, you can also wrap lights around the tops, or invest in some creeping plants that will love to grow their way across.

Get Creative with Your Lighting

You can light your deck in a number of ways, including eco-friendly solar lamps placed around the edges or mounting outdoor lamps on your exterior back wall near to where your deck begins.

You can also put a structure around your deck, such as a gazebo or canopy, and use it to hang outdoor string lights, candles, or lanterns. Go for whatever style and colour of lighting you like, and even wrap them all into each other for a full illumination bloom.

If you’ve invested in decking, make sure you also invest in making it look good! You never want to let a big slab of wood or patio tile get in the way of a cohesive garden design. Make sure you tie it all together by adding a border, being more creative with your light choices, and ensuring your furniture has the same kind of tone as your favourite flowers.
