Coming up with days off for you and your kids can be a little challenging, especially when we use up so many ideas trying to keep them entertained during the summer holidays.
However, there’ll always be something to keep them occupied, it might just take a little out of box thinking.
The UK is full of incredible exhibitions and exciting historical sites, so if you’re looking for something a little different, then check out these five fun things to do with your family.
- Safari Parks
While you might have already taken your little ones to the zoo countless times, you might not have considered the selection of safari parks that this country has to offer.
From West Midlands Safari Park, to Longleat located in the south west, you’ll be able to get up close to the animals – from the safety of your car of course!
Your kids will have the chance to see these animals roaming freely, rather than in the confines of their zoo enclosures.
- Indoor Skiing
Going on a skiing holiday might be the dream, but it’s not always in every family budget.
However, the indoor skiing alternative is almost as good as the real thing. Locations such as Manchester’s Chill Factore, let you experience snowy skiing, without having to book a holiday.
And, if you are thinking of taking a much dreamed of skiing holiday, you’ll at least get to practice before you go!
- Art Installations
The UK is home to some incredible works of art, and for many of them, you don’t even need to go to a gallery to check them out.
From the dinosaurs of Crystal Palace Park to Thomas Heatherwick’s Bleigiessen sculpture constructed with the help of Ormiston Wire, there are fantastic works of art that you can visit on a family day out.
- Open Air Museum
Museums aren’t always the most fun activity for our kids to visit. However, there are a wide range of open-air museums that offer a more interactive experience for the whole family.
Locations such as Beamish in County Durham make for a fantastic day out. Here you can experience the Living Museum of the North, bringing the history of the north to life from the 1820s to 1950s.
- National Trust Parks
If in doubt, a great place to find fun family days out is the National Trust website, you can discover a huge selection of sites and exhibitions run by the Trust that will help create wonderful and memorable experiences for your kids.
And, if you find that you’re visiting National Trust sites a lot, then consider a membership! This will grant you free access to more than 500 locations, and let you park at most of them for free too!
