Throughout our lives, we are constantly told that we should be nicer, kinder, more thoughtful and considerate individuals. But despite this, it’s all too easy to become wrapped up in the trappings of our own lives. Of course, this isn’t to say that we don’t care for the people around us – instead, it can be a challenge to show how much we do care. We all know and understand the importance of generosity, but how can you go about incorporating it into your daily life? Here are some top tips and ideas designed to help you become a more generous person.


One of the hardest things about committing to making a lifestyle change is ensuring that you are consciously able to make the change on a regular basis. One philosophy many people swear by is to try and complete one act of generosity each and every day. Even something as small as dropping some spare change into a charity collection box or taking the time to have a chat with your elderly neighbour count – after all, it’s still an act of generosity, no matter how small.



When you share with others, you will be helping to create a more equal, balanced lifestyle across your community and possibly even further afield. Of course, it is important to recognise how lucky we are, especially when compared to people in need around the world. Similarly, for those who are religious, there are certain belief-based dues, customs and traditions that must be carried out in accordance with your faith. Contrary to popular belief, giving doesn’t just have to mean donating money. Generosity and compassion go hand in hand – both are important traits that you should endeavour to incorporate into your daily life, but they are also equally important. So, therefore, how can you become a more compassionate individual? One great way to achieve this is to reach out to someone who may be lonely. Whether it’s someone that you personally know or just a person in need in your community or local area, it’s important that we do what we can to support those in need. In particular, the elderly can often need support in this regard, particularly if they are living alone and receive few visitors. If you’re pressed for time, a quick conversation can instantly brighten their day, or if you want to get a little more involved, you can set up more regular, lengthy visits.

No matter how you choose to incorporate care, compassion and generosity into your daily life and routine, the fact remains the same – these are all important traits that we should all endeavour to work towards. It may be impossible to help everyone in need, but even just putting a smile on someone’s face is a valuable way to guarantee a day well spent.
