Time, energy, and effort are all limited when you are a busy mum. Unfortunately, this means making beauty mistakes is an easy thing to do. The good news is you can find out about the most common ones and how to avoid them in the post below.
Not trying, before you buy
One of the most significant issues that busy mums can face when it comes to making it is forgetting that not all products will suit our skin, look, or vibe. The easiest way to get around this is to try a new product before you invest in a full-size version.
One way of doing this is heading to your local department store, or larger chemists and asking for samples from the person looking after the makeup counter. Often they will be able to give you specific advice on what will suit your skin tone and type.
Another way of trying products before you buy them is to get free samples delivered to your home. Indeed, this can work particularly well because you get to try products with your existing makeup routine to see if they fit your needs well.
Not having the proper tools for the job
No one would expect to put up shelves without a hammer and drill, so why then do we expect to be able to do our makeup when we haven’t got the right tools for the job? For example, applying foundation with your hands is a no-no because not only is it hard to get an even result, but it’s also very easy to transfer any bacteria you have on your hands onto your face, where it will sit all day right against your skin!
Similarly, many of us have long given up on the amazing transformative power of lash extensions, simply because we do not have the tools to apply them quickly and accurately. However, by investing in things like good quality lash adhesive we can completely change the application process. All at once making it easier, faster, and more effective.
Mixing water-based and oil-based products
Cast your mind back to science class, or cooking class even! You’ll remember that oil and water do not mix! Unfortunately, many of us forget this when it comes to our faces. Yes, that’s right combining oil-based and water-based makeup can be a real issue, as they will work against each other, creating a less-than-perfect, and not providing a long-lasting effect.
Instead, where possible, always try to read the labels before you invest, and stick to either oil or water-based products, as these will play nicely together once they are on your face.
Not setting your makeup
Last of all, a major mistake that busty mums make when it comes to make-up is skipping the final step which is setting your face. It’s super quick and easy to do as well, and once you have set your face your makeup is likely to last much longer, whether you are running around after the little ones or dancing the night away!
To set your makeup all you need to do is spray it with a setting spray and allow it to dry. That’s it. If you have avoided setting spray so far because you don’t like the drying, constricting feeling that sometimes comes with it, look for one that is Hyaluronic instead.
