Why you should not be afraid of travelling with children by car

Many families deny themselves autotravel when they have a baby, but they do it in vain. Taking a child on a trip is not as difficult as it seems – the main thing is to make up your mind and collect everything you need to be ready for any situation.

Road vacations offer benefits and drawbacks, just like any other travel. What makes traveling by car superior to other modes of transportation:

• It is often cheaper to travel by own car than by other means of transport. Even if you do not have your own car, this does not mean that you cannot go on a road trip with the whole family. • you by yourself control the path, you have the opportunity to make as many stops as necessary;

• it is much easier for a child to provide comfortable conditions in his own transport;
• these are new experiences not only for the smallest member of the family, but also for adults;
• on the road, you will not have to share your personal space with strangers, and the whole family will be in a comfortable psychological environment.

But there are also a few downsides:

• it is not known how the baby will behave during the first trip over a long distance;
• no one is immune from emergencies on the road provoked by other road users, so the journey may take longer than you planned.

Preparation before travel

Check how your kids behave on short excursions before you travel a great distance. Take them with you to the store, country home or forest. Make sure they don’t become sick, then sit comfortably and observe how they respond to the road in general, changing scenery, passing cars, and loud noises in the area.

Make sure to send the automobile in for a thorough inspection before the trip. Verify that the cabin’s climate controls, door locks, and window locks function properly. How to plan a route

Spontaneity in travel only seems attractive. It is best to think in advance when, on what roads, through which cities you will go. Try to choose good tracks, which provide places where you can comfortably go to the toilet, have a snack, and relax. If you have the time and finances, you can plan stops in intermediate cities with water parks or amusement parks.

Experienced travellers are advised to make big stops every six – seven hours. You can stop at a gas station with a roadside cafe or turn off the highway into the forest to have a picnic. Play outdoor games with your child outdoors. For toddlers who are not yet able to walk, lay an oilcloth with a blanket on the grass so that they can crawl.

What to do with a child on a trip

You’ll need to give the entertainment program a lot of thought to avoid your child whimpering. There is one general principle that must be followed when choosing toys for children of different ages: since taking children in a car is a lengthy operation, toys should be time-consuming.

The most important thing in any trip with a child is to look after him carefully and skillfully organise leisure. Then the kilometres will only be a joy, and nothing will overshadow a family trip!
