A Few of the Best Family Days Out in London

If you’re looking for ideas for how to spend your time this summer, it’s a good idea to take a look at what London has to offer. Most people can’t or won’t want to travel out of the country, so making the most of what we have around is something that’s going to be key.

Luckily that’s no problem at all because there are so many great family-friendly days out in London and the UK’s other cities that you can make the most of. Find out about some of the best family days out in London below and start putting your plans in place.

Natural History Museum

If you’re looking for an activity that you feel your entire family is going to be able to enjoy while also doing something educational, you should definitely consider the Natural History Museum in Central London. It’s undoubtedly one of the best museums in London or anywhere in the UK for that matter. It’s fun and educational for adults and kids alike. You’ll learn about the planet, the animals that inhabit the earth and the prehistoric age too. There’s so much to marvel at.

Family Friendly Musical Theatre

There are lots of great theatres showing musicals on a regular basis in London. If your kids are into that kind of thing and you want to have fun on your day out, you could take in a matinee show. You should think about which show is going to be most enjoyable for your whole family. Musical theatre can incorporate a wide range of shows, and some of the most popular in London at the moment include the Lion King and Aladdin. 

Exploring London’s Parks and Playgrounds

There’s such a wide range of outdoor activities you can do in London, and the outdoor spaces often get overlooked in London. There are so many of them, and many of the big parks like St James’ Park also have playgrounds. You can spend an entire day walking, looking around and enjoying the parks and lakes of London. By the end of the day, you’ll have tired your kids out and you’ll have no trouble getting them to sleep in the evening.

ZSL London Zoo

London is also home to one of the country’s best zoos, so if your kids love animals and you want to do something that’ll allow them to have fun and learn about wildlife at the same time, you might want to take them to ZSL London Zoo. It’s home to some of the best zoo exhibits you’ll find anywhere in the world, and it’s definitely considered one of the best London attractions for young families right now, so check it out.

Sea Life London Aquarium

On a similar note, there’s also a great aquarium in London called Sea Life London Aquarium. It’s one of the best around and there’s so much to see and marvel at here. You won’t be disappointed by the range of sea life that’s featured here, and the place is big enough for you to spend the best part of a day there with your family if you want to.

The London Eye

The London Eye is obviously one of the biggest landmarks in the capital, but to really understand just how special and important it is, you need to take the time to head up there and ride it. It gives the most incredible views over the London skyline and when you have a pod reserved for you and your family, you can see over the city from all angles. It’s a whole lot of fun and should definitely be incorporated into a day out in London.

A Sightseeing Bus Tour

There’s no shortage of great sightseeing bus tours in London that you can make the most of. The best ones will allow you to see all of the highlights, and when the sun’s out and the weather’s good, there’s nothing stopping you from sitting on the top deck and enjoying it with the family. It’s a good way to get across the city while seeing the key landmarks at the same time.
