Mia, like most kids, is a sucker for a toy advert. She tends to watch Nick Jr and so after each short episode of Paw Patrol or Peppa Pig, there is a seemingly endless stream of adverts for children’s toys. Without being able to read yet she can tell me the names of every single toy known to man (or child for that matter) along with their brand name and accompanying jingle! If you take her to a toy store she is more than happy to tell us all about what the toy does and how you can play with it so when we were offered the chance for her to be sent one of the latest Hatchimal toy’s, the Hatchimals Colleggtibles Hatchery Nursery Playset, I knew Mia would know exactly what to do with it!
Hatchimal’s were the toy last Christmas and I know so many people that were trying desperately to get hold of one to no avail. Although we didn’t get one for Mia due to the hefty price tag for what is essentially a cuddly toy, she was interested in them and showed an interest in the new colleggtibles when they were released this year. We were sent the Hatchery Nursery Playset which is described as ‘the perfect place to care for your baby Hatchimals’ and has 35 places to play and display them. Now Mia has an obsession with collecting Grossery Gang so anything that holds little characters is always going to be a winner in my book!
The Hatchery Nursery consists of an enchanted forest with a Hatching Tree set in the middle. There is also an exclusive Colleggtible included for use with the playset and Mia absolutely loves anything ‘rare’ or ‘limited edition’!
The great thing about the playset is that you can use the Hatching Tree to help hatch the Colleggtible and it’s quite easy to do (although I did get it wrong the first time through fear of breaking it of all things!). All you need to do it place the egg inside the secret flower hidden inside the Tree and turn the yellow handle. The flower then rises to the top and cracks the egg ready for you to peel away the shell to reveal your Colleggtible. It does take some cranking for a child and Mia needed some help but as it was our first time doing this; we were being quite gentle with it and didn’t need to be!
Once your Colleggtible is hatched it can swing off the tree hooks, go to the feeding station, take a shower, have a go on the swings and the spinning crib, and even slide down the slide!
Mia doesn’t have any other Colleggtible characters but she has used quite a few of her little characters and other collectables with the playset and has really enjoyed using it over the past couple of weeks. I can see her playing with it for a long while and I’m sure the Colleggtibles will be on her Christmas list this year! The Hatchery Nursery Playset is currently available for around £30 so would make an ideal Christmas present for the toy-obsessed child in your life!
