We all know how difficult the last couple of years have been for all of us, but they have been especially hard for those on their own and those being ‘shielded’. Covid19 has forced us into a new way of going out, a new way of communicating and ultimately, a completely new way of life and I don’t really think things will ever go back to how they used to be ever again!

We are lucky that my 2 remaining grandparents, although on their own, have been able to still see one of us regularly all the way through the pandemic. My dad goes to my 92-year-old grans almost every day to stand and chat with her and take her anything she needs, and I have been able to take the kids to play in my 90-year-old Nan’s garden while she sits and watches from inside her house. These have been huge lifelines, but they have missed out on so much since March and it’s just not been the same as popping in for cake and coffee!

We have created a little memory box but it’s not the same. I was emailed by the team at Neveo who showed me their lovely monthly paper journal that puts together photos and captions of your family and sends them straight to your loved ones. In the time we are living in at the moment, this is such a lovely, special thing to create for someone who can’t be present with us for now.

From the mobile app which is free to download, you simply upload all of the months photos that you want to add, write a small caption for each and then at the end of the month, the app is automatically closed and your book printed and sent off to your chosen recipient! It couldn’t be easier!

It took me about 5 minutes to upload 50 photos from the last month and write a caption for them. It’s so straightforward and quick to do. Then on the 30th May, the book automatically closed at midnight, and I received an email to say it was being sent off to print!

A few days later, my printed book arrived in the post and I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely it is! I asked for mine to be delivered to me directly so I could obviously see it first, but I will be dropping it round to my Gran’s this weekend for her to see and I’m sure she will love it! The photos are clear and really good quality. The text is a great size for my Gran to be able to read easily and the layout is lovely.

The only downside is that there is no option (that I can see!) to turn off the contributor’s name from being printed above each caption. This spoils the layout for me as I don’t really want my name printed 3 times on every page and I don’t think this is particularly needed either. I would also have added more text to the caption as it has created quite a lot of white space.

However, I really love the book and I’m currently creating one for my Nan next. It means they can see what the kids have been up to this month without them being present with us. It’s such a tough time for people on their own and people who can’t be with their families at the moment so Neveo have come up with a lovely journal to help ease this.

Neveo are kindly offering 2 months for free when you use the promo code ‘SUPPORT’ in the app. You can then send, like me, 1 journal of 50 photos per month for 2 months to your loved ones! The usual price after that is £9.99 a month but you can cancel your subscription at any time without any obligation.

Who will you send your monthly photo journal too?
