Do you work from home? That probably means you’ve got a little office of some sort! And whether your office is set up in the garden or you’ve been able to make space for it indoors, making it a comfortable place to both live and work is the most beneficial thing of all. Because the more you like being in the office, the happier you’re going to be to work there.
And when you’re happy and satisfied, you’re going to do the best work of all! With that in mind, here are a few ways to make your home office one of the best places to spend time in your house.
Make Sure There’s Plenty of Natural Light
A bit of sunshine first thing in the morning, when you’re at your desk at 9am, even just in your own home, can make the world of work feel all the brighter! That’s why you should make sure there’s plenty of natural light in your home office.
Clean the windows and open them up, get yourself some blinds that are easier to control than curtains, and if you’ve got room for it, why not get a skylight fitted? Or, if your office faces the garden, maybe some french doors?
Make an Area to Have Lunch
If you can’t use the office as a place to also decompress and take a break, you’re not going to like being in there very much at all. As such, form an area to have lunch somewhere in the same room. Make this the most comfortable area of all, where you can lounge, destress, shake off the morning woes, and even catch up on a bit of daytime TV.
Indeed, start by creating a good place to sit. A table and chair can work here, of course, but we highly recommend looking for some Handmade Sofas for Sale and buying yourself a super soft, highly plush, and very relaxing piece of furniture.
You should also make it easy to enjoy yourself in this area, so once you’re sat down, why not hang up a small TV or a tablet stand you can use that won’t mean you need to crane your neck or contort yourself round from your desk?
Bring Convenient Appliances Closer
Convenient appliances can be any items you like using when you’re at work, such as the microwave or the coffee machine or even just a small kettle you can plug in on your desk.
Bring them close, have them in the same room, and make sure you don’t have to go too far and interrupt your workflow when you need a snack or a drink.
Of course, you don’t want to consolidate your life down to this one room, but when you’re in the middle of something and really need another cuppa, you don’t want to break out of it entirely either!
Really, a truly comfortable home office is a place you can really be yourself whilst getting to work!
