If you’ve recently moved or bought a new home with more bathrooms, you know how exciting it is to finally have your own toilet space. But when considering how to make the kid’s bathroom more child-friendly, it can be easy to draw a blank.
What safety measures should you, as a parent, take? How do you make the bathroom fun and functional without excess clutter? Consider the following tips for making the perfect kid-friendly bathroom in your home.

Revamp the tub
If you have young children, making their bathtub safe and accessible is key. Choose a shower curtain instead of a shower door to provide easier access to your little ones when getting in and out of the tub.
It can be moved out of the way and gives you the flexibility you need to bathe toddlers and small children without strain or stretching around a door frame.
To keep your children safe during their baths, add a non-slip bathmat and rug out of the tub to avoid slips or falls. Add a bathtub thermometer and tap guard to prevent burns or injury from hot water. And any outlets or sockets that are exposed, be sure to use plug socket covers at all times.
Add some extra help
Kids need some help reaching the sink and getting to their belongings.
Add a step stool for your sink and open shelving to store things like hair brushes, towels, and bath toys. A toothbrush holder keeps children’s toothbrushes in a hygienic and designated space.
More storage works great in a bathroom cupboard for extra towels and bath mats and means you can use the immediate bathroom space for the items your kids need within their reach.
Keep the space colourful
Making your child’s bathroom colourful and inviting means they are more likely to feel comfortable and enjoy using the space.
To do this, consider adding fun wall colours or themes that your child enjoys. Use a range of shapes and bright hues for towel racks or hooks. Keep a stock of vibrant bubble bath soaps so there’s plenty of colourful suds for your child to play in. Even include a colourful radiator to match the design and tie the room together.
Create a display shelf or use rainbow storage bins for bath toys and other fun bath accessories, like silly sponges or shower puffs. And, of course, add a patterned shower curtain with their favourite characters, animals, or patterns and a bath mat to match.
Make maintenance easy for you
To help make messes and regular clean-up effortless, install childproof floors and countertops that keep scratches, stains, and any damage from play at bay. This means keeping up the space requires just a simple wipe with your household cleaner of choice.
To protect your walls, install wainscotting. This trimming accent helps protect the lower half of your walls, where children’s fingerprints, drawings, and scuffs are known to build up. By using an easy-clean paint or material, you can maintain the overall look of the bathroom without sacrificing the appearance of your walls.
Conclusion
With a little imagination and creativity, you can easily make your kid’s bathroom fun and inviting. Always remember to put safety first, keep things easy to maintain and add a little whimsy. They will be sure to love their bathroom space just as much as you do.
