Achieving a garden that looks beautiful has no mean feat! Although there are some smart tactics you can use to boost the aesthetics of your outdoor space without too much work. Read on to find out what they are.
Introduce colour through plants and flowers
It seems obvious to recommend that you boost the aesthetics of your garden by adding colour with plants and flowers, but it can be trickier than it first seems. After all, flowering plants don’t tend to flower all year around, so you will need to think carefully about how to make sure you maintain colour and texture throughout the seasons.
One way of doing this is to use evergreen shrubs that include colours in addition to green such as the pink trimmed leaves of the Coprosma Eclipse, the emerald and gold leaves of the Euonymus fortunei, or one of the great perennials you’ll see in the video below.
Replace old and tired fencing
One way to enhance the aesthetics of your garden is to replace any old and worn-out fencing, with new panels. Typically the most popular type of fence panels to use in the garden are overlap panels as they provide excellent privacy at a very reasonable price.
However, if you are looking to boost the aesthetics of your outdoor space, then you may wish to consider feathered edge panels or even lattice-topped panels for an added decorative touch.
Use the ancient art of Feng Shui
Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese practice of creating harmony in environments in which we spend time through channel energy. Sometimes known as geomancy Feng Shui has been a popular part of interior design, and architecture for years, although it’s only just recently that its principles have been applied to outdoor living spaces, especially in the west.
The good news is that it’s relatively simple to apply the process of Fung Shui to your garden, especially if you start small and build up from there. Indeed, you can add features like bird baths, metallic pots, and decorations in the right zone for a harmonised effect that can easily transform both the aesthetics and the feel of your garden space.
Include features like a pergola
Lastly, if you are looking to change up the aesthetics of your garden why not add a focal feature like a pergola? Pergolas are outdoor features that form an area of shade via an open lattice that is supported by posts. The great thing about pergolas is that you can grow all sorts of plants up and around them so they will seamlessly fit into your garden while at the same time enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
Some of the most popular plants to grow around pergolas include climbing hydrangea or honeysuckle. The latter provides a wonderful scent while it’s in flower. Morning glories and climbing roses are also popular options. Although for a truly romantic aesthetic, it has to be delicate draping Wisteria in blue or white.
