When the temperature drops and the nights begin to close in, many of us hanker for some warmth and sunshine. There is no better way of getting through the long, cold winter months, then booking yourself a little winter sun break. The problem is thinking about what to pack – when you are wrapped up in big coats, scarves, and boots, it can be difficult to imagine what you need for warmer climes. Do not worry though, as we have it covered in this useful packing list and guide. Read on to find out more!
Sun protection
First things first, pack the sun cream. Sunburn is not a good look for anyone – it is about as far as fashionable as you can get. Not only does it look pretty awful, but it dramatically increases the chances of you getting skin cancer in the future. Pack the highest factor sun cream that you can, and if you do end up with sunburn, take a look at how to deal with sun damaged skin.
What to pack for a Winter Sun Getaway: Sunglasses
Sunglasses not only look great, but they shield the eyes from the sun’s harmful rays. Do not be tempted to skimp and buy cheap ones, as they might be more harmful to your eyes than not wearing any protection on your eyes at all. Instead, opt for the best pair that your budget allows. Most people can pull off a classic pair of wayfarers or aviators.
Hat
Just like sunglasses, hats serve two purposes: looking good and protecting you from the sun. It will protect your head, neck and face from burning to a crisp and giving you sunstroke, and stops your hair from turning into a big ball of frizz. For maximum coverage and style points, go for something with a wide brim.
Swimming costumes or bikini
If you are planning on taking advantage of the hot sunshine and hoping to laze about on sunloungers around the pool, with a fruity cocktail or two to hand, you are going to want a swimming costume or bikini. It will probably be your most worn item of clothing, so buy something that looks good but more importantly makes you feel great about yourself. At this point of the year, it is more difficult to find them in the shops, so online is a good place to look.
Maxi dress
When it comes to versatility, the classic maxi dress tops the list. You don’t have to worry about folding them carefully or ironing; simply roll them up in your suitcase and throw them on over the top of your bikini with a pair of flipflops for a casual day look or with glitzy sandals for a night on the town
A winter sun break is a great chance to relax, unwind and get your mind and body sorted for the rest of the long winter season. Just make sure that you pack the things we have listed above so that you don’t ruin your break – or your skin!
