Laundry washing is a weekday chore in our house, like everyone else’s but since Mia’s been at school, I have found myself trying to catch up with all of her uniform washing, which means sometimes putting the washing machine on at the weekend too and so I’m worried about getting all of the laundry done each week! I have always used a wash powder and liquid conditioner (usually Tesco’s own as I have always found it really good) however when Mia was born I washed her clothes separately with Fairy sensitive liquid until she was just over 1. Now I don’t really mind doing the laundry as such however I do hate the drying of it all and the fact it’s a daily thing, gets a bit wearing after a while!

I really need a detergent that is not only going to be tough enough on Mario’s gym wear but also gentle enough for Mia and Lottie’s clothes and this is hard to get from normal detergents. As well as this, it has to leave the laundry smelling fresh, I’m not overly keen on fragrances but I like my clothes to come out feeling washed, clean and looking nice too! So we took on the Ecover Laundry Challenge!

We were sent a bottle of Ecover’s new Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Detergent to put through its paces on a weeks’ worth of our laundry washing. Ecover have created a laundry solution to suit the whole family, something that works on stains as well as being delicate on baby’s clothing and bedding too. The detergent powerfully cleans washing and features a new naturally-inspired fragrance of lavender and sandalwood. It is plant based and dermatologically tested so it can deliver results even on a cold wash. We were also sent an exclusive laundry bag designed by the illustrator Freya Morgan.

Laundry Challenge

I have always used a wash powder, I’m not really sure why but I find it difficult to switch when I’m happy with something so I just haven’t ever changed. It was really nice to try out a liquid instead and despite me thinking that the clothes wouldn’t come out of the wash as clean as they would do otherwise, I have been pleasantly surprised since the very first wash at how nice the clothes feel and how clean they come out.

The scent left on the clothes is fresh and subtle. You can tell it has left a fragrance without it being overpowering and doesn’t ‘stick’ to the clothes like others have in the past. The bottle will last a few washes yet, I would say about a months’ worth of washing for us as a household which means I don’t have to think about buying more detergent in between monthly shops.

I would definitely use the Ecover Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Detergent again in the future as I’m sure it will be gentle enough on the kids clothes as well as get rid of the tough stains on our clothes too. Saving us money needing to buy separate detergents and saving me time separating all of our washing out!
