Many people lack a sense of purpose, which is a huge problem for those who suffer from low moods and depression. When seeking mental health treatment, part of the process will get you to think about your purpose. 

Your purpose is unique to you and is something that everyone wants, whether they know it or not. A personal sense of purpose is not all about achieving big goals. It is more about making a positive impact in the world, regardless of how big or small it may be. The purpose is something that provides you with stability, motivation, passion and a sense of direction throughout your life, and can be particularly helpful when you are having a setback or a bad day. Your purpose is what will sustain you. 

Your purpose may not resonate with other people and may adapt and evolve. 

It is important to find your purpose, so you can live life more happily and passionately. If you’re not sure what your purpose is, here are some top tips to help you on your journey. 

#1 Change your mindset 

It is important to first adapt your mindset. To help you identify your purpose and live a better life while in pursuit of it, you will need to have a growth mindset that will enable you to develop, become more self-aware, and become a better version of yourself. Accept feedback, and embrace challenges that come your way. This will help you to learn more about yourself and your purpose. 

#2 Draw up a personal statement 

A personal statement is a great way to identify and draw up meaningful values that can guide you to your purpose and live a more meaningful life. Your statement should be made up of your core values in life, who you are, what is important to you, and what you want to achieve. You should keep a copy of your statement on you at all times, so you can review it whenever you need purpose and direction in life. It will help you stay aligned, make better decisions, and help you work towards your goals. 

#3 Give back to the community

Giving back to the community is a great way to help you find your purpose. It can give you a sense of meaning, and boost your self-awareness. Not only will you be doing a kind thing, but you will also be able to feel a great sense of achievement and gratitude. You will be able to gain just as much out of giving back as the recipients will. Acts of service will guide you to find your purpose in life, as they allow you to do something for someone else, rather than yourself. They will change your perspective on life. 

There are plenty of ways you can give back, depending on your situation. For example, you might choose to make charity donations, or you could volunteer your time and skills to help people and projects. 

Finding your purpose can be a challenge. There is no clear way to find your purpose. Make sure you change your mindset, embrace challenges, write a personal statement and serve others.
